Deployment script

What do you think about a deployment script that is executed every time a commit to the master is made. This script assumes that a version number is set in a file. It creates a debian package configuration (a script for this is already prepared) and a tar.gz package of the sources, and sends everything to a server that stores our release files.

Open questions:

  • Where to store the release versions? Fusionforge, or on some math account, or somewhere else?
  • How to send a file to the server, without storing a password in plaintext
  • Which formats to provide? .deb, .tar.gz, what else can be generated automatically?
